As of March 18, ECS second graders have collected nearly 42,000 cans, demonstrating remarkable dedication to their recycling goals. The initiative was celebrated with a pep rally featuring educational presentations on aluminum can production and recycling, prize giveaways, and special appearances by Iceburgh and ECS’s own Hero the Hawk.
The Pittsburgh Penguins further supported the students’ efforts by donating all aluminum beverage cans and cups from their March 18 “Penguins Pledge” sustainability game to ECS, bolstering the school’s recycling objectives.
